What I Learned This Week

- I learned that by the 4th day of rain, your mood can become very gloomy. We need some sunshine around here ASAP!
- I learned that the best way to end a week is dinner at Applebee’s with my husband and children. We had a such a nice time, we could have been one of the families in their commercial.
- I learned that no one can party like a bunch of 60 year old Greeks. Don’t even try it, you won’t come close. Unless, of course, you can sing Greek songs loudly on the back of a bus coming home from a dinner cruise while doing shots of Ouzo.
- I learned it’s great to see your neighbor again after a year of service in Iraq. In some ways, I feel like he never left.
- Finally, and here is where a few of you may drag me through the coals, I have learned that people will over-react big time to the Swine Flu. Earlier this week, someone twittered that a handful of people have the swine flu and everyone wears a mask. Millions of people have AIDS and no one wants to wear a condom. While the numbers there aren’t exact and the statement itself maybe slightly exaggerated, I think it speaks volumes.

I am in total agreement with you on Swin Flu. So many people freaked out, and now it is being downgraded. No need to freak. It is just the flu, like the flue that makes it comeback every year!
I love family dinners out, always such a great time.

I loved that you looked like a family on a TV commercial!

I do not understand the panic over the swine flu…thousands die every year from the flu but never get the exposure that this flu has. Flu vaccines rarely prevent all the strains that are present. And those masks DO NOTHING to prevent it!

THANK you. It’s just THE FLU. I feel horrible for the people in Mexico w/out good med care, but for those of us here, it’s really nothing to get that bent out of shape about.
That said, I hope we don’t get it. YUCK.

I hear you about the rain–it rained all last week and it definitely affected my mood!
I was getting really annoyed about the hysteria surrounding the swine flu.

Ugh, rain. And swine flu. If I have to see/hear another day’s worth I am running away.
To a non-rainy, no fluey place!

hope the sun shines soo…here, too. My yard is a foot high because my boys can only mow on the weekends and every weekend it rains…but better than watering my yard, which will come soon enough

I think the media or whoever really overblew the Swine flu thing.. we had the stomach flu going around our house and everyone was concerned it was the swine flu!
